 Raymond L. Lamboy, President & Chief Executive Officer

Raymond L. Lamboy Laeda President & CEO

Mr. Lamboy has been President & CEO of LAEDA since December of 2007. As a second generation owner of Lamboy Furniture Company, a family-owned business here in the City of Camden since 1970, Mr. Lamboy brings a unique prospective to the economic development mission of LAEDA. Mr. Lamboy believes that the future of the City of Camden rests in strengthening and growing the city’s business community and empowering individuals to own their own businesses.

Mr. Lamboy holds a BA in Economics from Rutgers University, has been certified by Main Street New Jersey as having completed the Downtown Revitalization Institute year long training program and has attended national training conferences hosted by the National Main Street Center and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) - Urban Forums.

 Annabel Soto, Office Administrator

Mrs. Soto joined LAEDA in November of 2010 as our Receptionist/Fiscal Management Clerk. In this role, Mrs. Soto was responsible for the management of LAEDA's fiscal operations and communications. Mrs. Soto was promoted to Administrative Assistant in September of 2011. As the Administrative Assistant of the organization, Mrs. Soto coordinates the administrative functions of the organization. In her current role as the Office Administrator, she oversees day to day operations of the organization while coordinating executive and program support. As the former Procurement Manager and Special Projects coordinator for APM of Philadelphia and the Enrollment Management Coordinator for the Catholic School Partnership here in the City of Camden.

Mrs. Soto brings a wide range of administrative experience to LAEDA combined with an extensive network of relationships throughout the community to LAEDA. Mrs. Soto holds a BA in Business Administration from Pierce College and is fully bi-lingual in Spanish and English. 

 Jamila Powell, Program Manager - Women's Business Center

Ms. Powell started with LAEDA in September of 2015 as an intern responsible for our Dine Around Friday events program. In December of 2015, She joined our team as a program associate supporting the Entrepreneurial Development Training Program (EDTP) In March 2016, Ms. Powell became a permanent part of LAEDA’s team as our new Technical Assistance Coordinator. In this role, she supports the operations of the EDTP program and coordinates the provision of Business counseling to both in session program participants and the EDTP Alumni. She was promoted to Program Manager of the Women’s Business Center in October 2018. She provides business support, counseling and Business education through the Women’s Business Academy (WBA) providing these services in all of south jersey.

Ms. Powel holds an MBA in Marketing from Rutgers University and two Bachelor Degrees from Montclair State for Human Ecology & Business Administration. Ms. Powell is a Camden native who’s committed to working on turning the city of Camden around.

Sophie Werner,  Assistant Program Manager - LAEDA Women's Business Center

Ms. Werner joined the LAEDA Team in June of 2019, as the WBC Assistant Program Manager. In her role as the Assistant Program manager of the WBC, she will primarily provide business counseling to all LAEDA business clients. This includes alumni of LAEDA programming, current LBSC and WBC training clients and the general public with an emphasis on women entrepreneurs and woman owned businesses.

Ms. Werner holds a BA from Saint Joseph's University for Communication Studies and Spanish and a minor in Leadership Ethics & Organizational Sustainability. She is fully bi-lingual in Spanish and English. Please join us in welcoming her to our team. 

 Kathryn "Kat" Harrison, Program Manager - LAEDA Business Services Center

Ms. Harrison is the newest addition to LAEDA’s team having been hired in November of 2019. In her role as Program Manager, Ms. Harrison is responsible for the day to day operations of the LAEDA Business Service Center. She is responsible for developing and hosting business education programming and business counseling services throughout South Jersey. Prior to joining LAEDA, Ms. Harrison was a citizen of the world where she held several posts in Uganda in East Africa and Guatemala, El Salvador, and Peru in Central and South America.
 
Ms. Harrison holds a dual Masters in Public Administration and Masters in Business Administration focused on utilizing market-based approaches to alleviate the effects of poverty and marginalization.

Eric Newman, Assistant Program Manager - LAEDA Business Services Center

Mr. Newman joined LAEDA in January of 2020, as the LBSC Assistant Program Manager where he assists in the facilitation, instruction, and recruitment of LAEDA’s Entrepreneurial Training Programs. This includes both the Entrepreneurial Development Training Program and the Quick Start Series. In addition to supporting LAEDA’s training programs, he also provides technical assistance to clients in the areas of business planning and small business financing.

Prior to joining LAEDA, Mr. Newman taught Business ESL in Brazil and Thailand after he became a certified TEFL instructor in 2017. He also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Saint Joseph’s University in Marketing with a minor in Economics. While attending Saint Joseph’s University he worked for organizations such as the U.S. Department of Commerce and Danone North America in the areas of international business and marketing.

Joshua Harding, Development Associate 

Mr. Harding joined LAEDA in January of 2020 as the Development Associate, where he assists in the process of grant writing, which will secure funds for LAEDA’s continued operations. In addition to this, he also assists in the research and development that will help further LAEDA’s programmatic footprint and outreach throughout South Jersey. Prior to joining LAEDA, Mr. Harding taught English as a Second Language abroad in Germany, and has worked at various non-profits throughout the greater Philadelphia and South Jersey area; most recently, he was a vocational instructor in the business track at a local charter school in North Philadelphia. 

He holds a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA in English with a minor in Film, Television, and Digital Media. He is looking forward to continue his passion as a storyteller in writing on the myriad of success stories from the many clients who have completed LAEDA’s programs.

 Dina Maldonado, Assistant Office Administrator

Mrs. Maldonado joined the LAEDA Administrative Team in October 2017 as the Assistant Office Administrator.  She assists the Office Administrator to manage LAEDA’s front office, the nerve center of the organization.  Mrs. Maldonado’s primarily responsible is to execute fiscal management activities to include accounts receivables, accounts payables, financial reporting and records management. She is a creative individual that makes our office buzz. 
 
Mrs. Maldonado holds an Associate Degree in Business Administration from American Junior College in Quito Ecuador. She is fully bi-lingual in Spanish and English.

The Latin American Economic Development Association, Inc. (LAEDA), a community economic development non-profit organization in the City of Camden, NJ, is seeking qualified economic development candidates to join its team. We are looking for a candidate who wants to contribute, develop, and take control of his/her career; for whom supporting the work of an organization involved in changing lives for the better is a matter of personal and professional importance.

LAEDA works collaboratively with various government agencies, community development organizations, financial institutions, merchant associations and Chambers of Commerce to influence economic development policy and to provide business development programming to the business community and residents of seven counties of South Jersey; Camden, Gloucester, Cumberland, Atlantic, Salem and Burlington and Cape May.
