Camden, NJ, March 29- On a beautiful afternoon, the Camden community came together in front of Camden’s City Hall for “Women’s Unity Day,” a rally for “SIS”, Standing in Solidarity. An impressive crowd enjoyed the sunshine while listening to speakers that included Major Frank Moran and social justice lawyer Ivaliz Crespo. The crowd was also treated to a lively performance by local girl group “Trumpet Chics” whose singing, brass instruments, and choreography got everyone dancing.

LAEDA’s Women Business Center Program Manager, Jamie Shanker, spoke to the crowd about the unfortunate existing gender gap when looking at small business lending. She urged the crowd to take advantage of the existing resources that exist to help women, including free business training and counseling at LAEDA.

The event was organized by EDTP alumna Erin Johnson whose Camden clothing brand “The Collective” has a social conscious mission of empowering and uniting women through fashion.
