LAEDA WBC & Rock of Salvation Church Open the Door to Business Ownership in Vineland

Vineland, NJ - Rock of Salvation Church was the site of LAEDA WBC's latest Jump Start Series. Twelve would-be entrepreneurs came to the Rock of Salvation Church basement to learn how they can make their business ownership dreams come true.

Led by Jamie Shanker, the WBC Program Manager, the series focuses on assisting women who plan to start or expand a business.  "Women entrepreneurs face some daunting challenges when starting a business, we've designed this series to address some of the most common ones; negotiation skills and work/life balance," said Ms. Shanker.  Read More.

The group in attendance represented women of all ages, ethnicity and backgrounds. With a variety of business ideas including a tutoring service, videography services, a florist, event planner, seafood restaurant,  fashion designer among others.  The five-night series is ideal for hobbyists, weekend-warriors, and those with a start-up idea that are just beginning to dip their toes into the sea of small business. 
 
The series includes Business Basics, Negotiating Skills & Local Small Business Resources, Marketing Your Business, Work Life Balance and Credit Manager for Entrepreneurs.  "This line up of seminars is a great spring board for our entrepreneurs," said Alex LaBant, Assistant Program Manager.  "With what they learn here, they can get started on the right foot."  The series wraps up with a certificate presentation and networking.  LAEDA invites alumni and past participants from Cumberland County to attend and meet our news Friends of LAEDA.
 
The WBC Jump Start series continues in October and culminates in a networking celebration on 10/18. Dates below:
