Atlantic City, NJ – On February 20, 2020, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) hosted its Small Business Resources Event at Stockton University in Atlantic City. The event showcased the various development resources available to small businesses in Atlantic City and the surrounding counties.

Lenders ranging from commercial banks to Community Development Financial Intermediaries (CDFIs) were on hand to discuss the various lending products they offer and how to apply. Anthony Martinez, Senior Small Business Liaison Officer at NJEDA, lead the discussion and highlighted NJEDA’s small business programs, including Lease Assistance and Micro for small business.

The event then turn to business training and counseling services. Jamila Powell, Program Manager of LAEDA’s Women’s Business Center (LWBC), addressed the gathering and shared LAEDA’s approach to supporting its entrepreneurs. “LAEDA believes it’s important to meet entrepreneurs where they are,” she said. “We have a wide range of business education options tailored to a hobbyist looking to supplement their income to an entrepreneur who is ready to step out and start their own business.” She also explained that LAEDA WBC offers business counseling to help existing and new entrepreneurs address individual opportunities or obstacles in their business.

The event wrapped up with attendees being encouraged to network with the assembled business owners and to visit the resource tables of the lenders and training and counseling providers in attendance.
