What Employers Must Know About “Facebook” and
Other Social Media
Peter Frattarelli, Esq.
, Partner,
Archer & Greiner, P.C.
The legal landscape regarding “Facebook” and other social media in the workplace is evolving almost as fast as the technology itself. Recent court and administrative decisions have both clarified and confused what employers can (and can’t) do in the social media arena. This presentation will provide the latest updates on how these communication media are impacted by privacy laws, harassment laws, and even laws traditionally used to protect union employees.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Evaluating, Disciplining
and Terminating Employees
Tracy Asper Wolak, Esq.
, Associate, Archer & Greiner, P.C.
Employers need to constantly evaluate, discipline and (at times) terminate employees, but the legal risks are substantial if these straightforward and necessary decisions are done incorrectly. This presentation will use real-life examples, good and bad, to help show employers what they need to do to stay in compliance with the law, when employees are being reviewed or reprimanded.

Leaves of Absence: Top Ten Things You Must Know
Susan Hodges, Esq.
, Partner, Archer & Greiner, P.C.
Employees’ leaves of absence create the most common problem for employers, who can easily get confused as to what rights they (and their workers) have under the overlapping FMLA, disability and workers compensation laws. Rather than a legal overview, this nuts-and-bolts presentation will discuss the Top Ten issues that every employer in 2012 must know about, along with real-life solutions.

Employee Recruiting, Interviewing and Hiring: Do’s and Don’ts
Douglas Diaz, Esq.
, Partner, Archer & Greiner, P.C.
With the economy (maybe?) improving, employers once again need to be aware of what the rules are for recruiting, interviewing and hiring. Over the past several years, new restrictions and guidance have been developed over what can be done by employers in the hiring process, and this presentation will review the established law and recent changes.
